Tsunami Disaster

  • translated by Invincible_East

So far the South Asian Tsunami Disaster has taken 90 thousand lives and over a million people are now homeless. For several days the causalities have been rising and it's saddening.

According to news reports, most of the South Asian countries where the disaster occurred are poor and in ruins, and corpses are found everywhere. In some areas, waves washed up thousands of corpses, dead bodies are found among house debris and wrecked cars, and are floating in the ocean. In some areas, groups of vultures are flying above heaps of dead bodies. Unattended corpses are left decaying outside hospitals, giving off foul oders. Many towns and cities are flooded, and houses are ruined. The governments in the area are very worried about epidemic outbreaks.

TBF (True Buddha Foundation) urges all members of our school to follow Grand Master Lu's merciful and benevolent passion and recite the Great Relief for Calamities Mantra 10,000 times. Secondly, TBF strongly encourages local chapters to hold dharma ceremonies and dedicate merits by saying the following dedication: "May the deceased of this tsunami disaster achieve peace and happiness, may they take rebirth in the Amitabha Buddha's Western Paradise, and may the disaster relief and re-establishment programs be unobstructed." Thirdly, TBF encourages active participation in the disaster relief efforts such as donating money, participating personally in relief programs, and allaying sufferings for the disaster victims. Donations can be done through Lotus Society Charity branches. The main branch of Lotus Light Charity Society will plan and take charge of relief efforts. (Note: Before reciting the Relief Mantra, please recite the Guru Mantra for 108 times first.)

Thank you to all who help grieving sentient beings!

Regards,

True Buddha Foundation
