The phenomenon of body invasion does not happen only with yin-spirits
but also with animal spirits.
One time, an elderly student who had taken refuge for many years
came to Seattle for the first time to seek help from me. On the
questionaire, he only wrote down these two words: shoulder pain.
"How long have you had the pain?"
"Eight to nine years."
I collected my mind and, after focusing on the matter for a moment,
I said, "It was the same year you killed the huge snake."
After carefully counting the number of years using his fingers,
the old student thought a little and said, "Yes, that was the
same year. I discovered this huge snake at the backyard of our new
house, and I killed it with a hoe."
This elderly student asked, "Does my shoulder pain have something
to do with the snake?"
I just smiled.
The old student went on to tell me how he had been tormented by
this excruciating shoulder pain for the last eight to nine years.
He had tried applying all kinds of Chinese and Western medicinal
ointments on the site of pain, and he had taken many different kinds
of pills, but all to no avail. Whenever the pain attacked, he would
feel greatly perturbed, depressed, and a generalized discomfort
throughout the whole body.
I tapped on his shoulder with my palm.
He uttered, "I feel much better!"
I saw a slender black shadow. It jerked each time I tapped, but
it held tightly onto the shoulder joint, refusing to let go.
He shouted, "It is hurting again, it's like my bone is being
sawed apart."
Therefore, I had to invoke the Great Yamantaka. Forming the Great
Yamantaka Diamond Mudra with my hands, I chanted the Great Yamantaka
Diamond Mantra, and I visualized my body and mind transforming into
the Great Yamantaka.
Raising the Diamond Mudra right above my brows,
My diamond eyes emitting wrathfulness,
Shooting great red blazing flames,
I am the greatly dignified and powerful one.
From here I can travel through all spaces,
Eradicating all disasters and calamities,
The victorious spiritual and miraculous powers,
Are exactly those of the Great Yamantaka.
Grabbing that black shadow with my hand, I tossed it into the
"six realms of transmigration," giving it a chance to
quickly seek birth again! And I let out a loud cry, "Hum, Hum,
Hum."
During the rest of his stay in Seattle, the elderly student's shoulder
pain completely went away. He was so happy that he was telling everyone
he came across that he believed he would remain pain free even after
he went home.
However, this matter did not end there.
One day, while meditating, I suddenly saw a long slender black
shadow soaring down from the empty space. It flew right up to my
chest and, before I could stop it, it slithered inside into my chest.
I was greatly shocked.
"This slender black creature had entwined itself around the
old student's shoulder joint, causing him great pain for eight to
nine years. Now it has scurried into my chest cavity. Does this
mean I have to endure some kind of heart ailment? It does not seem
like it has come with any good intents," I thought to myself.
"I am in trouble this time." I had not expected it to
be so stubbornly fierce.
For a moment, I could not decide what to do.
Right at that time, the "Lord of Six Realms of Transmigration"
appeared in the empty space.
The Lord of Six Realms of Transmigration spoke, "Living Buddha
Lian-sheng, this creature has already acquired a psychic awareness,
and it is willing to become your guardian. It would be a pity to
let it go and get trapped in transmigrations. Just take it in as
your protector. It will serve you well and create some good merits
for itself."
"No!" I refused adamantly.
But the Lord of Six Realms of Transmigrations had already taken
off.
When I thought of the presence of a snake inside my chest, I felt
nauseated. I did not have any other phobia except that of snakes.
Snakes cause a great fear and aversion in me. Wouldn't it be a nuisance
if I had to look at the form of the snake every day!
Lodging its body in my neck, its tail hanging down to my navel,
the snake rested its head in my chest. Flicking its tongue, it even
giggled.
I cried out, "No!"
The Great Yamantaka manifested. He reached out his hand, lightly
grabbed hold of the snake, and wore it in front of his own chest.
It turned out that the Great Yamantaka wears the following as
adornments: a tiara made of fifty freshly severed human heads, arm
nets made of black snakes, ornamental wheels made of bones, etc.
So, this time, the huge black snake had found its true master.
Joining my palms, I chanted once the name of the Great Yamantaka.
The wrathful and magnificent revered one,
The free and bliss-loving one,
Living in peaceful blissfulness.
