Everything in this Samsara world will be subjected to change.
There is only one exception. According to Buddha, only "Sunya"(Emptiness) will
remain unchanged forever.
Of the five elements that form the world, namely Earth, water,
fire, wind and emptiness, only emptiness cannot be changed. If we can fully comprehend the
doctrine of "emptiness" and enter into the realm of "emptiness", we
will be able to find the eternal truth.
With the passage of time, human beings will have to go through
the cycle of life and death. But from "emptiness" point of view, life, death and
even time are non-existent. This is quite difficult to understand. Let me put it this way
for you. Imagine yourself in orbit and your body revolving around Planet Earth or the
solar system; I am sure, life , death and time are no longer relevant to you anymore.
As there is no bacteria in outer space, your body will keep on
gyrating; it will not decay even after many trillion years later. Under such
circumstances, we can say time stops totally, or it does not exist at all. There is no
death when the body is still revolving.
In the Buddhist Sutras , we often come across the doctrine of
"Non-birth." This is because Buddhists firmly believe that birth, death, and
time are nothing but "emptiness."
As spiritual cultivators, we must try to fully comprehend the
inner meaning of "emptiness." If we are able to find the truth and comply with
it, we will be able to comprehend everything that is happening in this world.
Since everything is subject to change, we must use our mind to
experience "emptiness", for it will lead us to Nirvana (a stage that is not
subject to birth and death).
