Chapter 9 - Within The Bow Or Without It
We raise a bow and put the arrow on the string; the place the arrow
points to is a place without the bow.
We raise a bow and put the arrow on the string; the section of
the arrow that is within the bow is a place within the bow.
In simple terms, the bow is actually a curve or a radian. The place
is called within the bow if it is inside the curve and is called
without the bow if it is outside the curve.
If we draw a circle and the house is inside it, then it is within
the bow from any direction. If it is outside the circle, it is without
the bow.
In topography a place can have water without the bow, roads without
the bow or building without the bow.
-
Water without the bow - a river winds through your neighbourhood
and forms a curve in front of your house, and your house is
outside it.
-
A road without the bow - a road meanders in front of your house
and your house is outside its curve.
-
A building without the bow - any round building such as a stadium
or gymnasium; all houses near it are subject to its rebounding
forces.
In geomancy, all houses that inside the curve or radian of something
either natural or man-made are within the bow. These houses have
affection and will see great development.
All houses that are subject to the rebounding forces of the curve
or radian of something either natural or man-made are without the
bow. Such houses are without affection, which means sure decline.
All places belong to one of these categories: within the bow, without
the bow, or straight.
What is straight? A river passes your door-step in a straight line.
A straight road goes in front of your house. None of the buildings
near your house have curves. This is a straight house.
Masters of geomancy would prefer places within the bow for building
houses, never favouring places without the bow. The reason is simple:
places outside the bow will be targets of the arrow and are subject
to the negative forces from the ten directions. In terms of land
spirits, these places bear the brunt of the negative forces from
all directions and are likely to meet unexpected calamities.
I, Living Buddha Lian Shen, have noticed that in our modern society
many luxurious houses are built in places that are precisely the
targets of the arrow. I often utter a sigh at the sight of this.
These luxurious houses turned out to be masterpieces of some "great"
geomancers. What a shame! These ignorant geomancers make people
shudder.
Some rich people who were very successful in business began to
suffer from one misfortune after another once they had moved into
houses outside the curve of something. Unexpected calamities followed
immediately, such as car accidents with people injured. Their business
was like a fire that was going out, with orders going down sharply,
staff swindling money out of them. Before long, they had to leave
the building. What a shame with the houses standing there empty,
idle!
Modern geomancers seem to pay more attention to the direction of
the house, preferring the main gate facing southeast, south or east.
They believe that it is bad luck to have the main gate facing southwest,
northwest or west, while the northwest and north are neither good
or bad. They play tricks with all these directions.
I would rather think that those directions are important, since
they have to do with the direction of the magnetic field. It is
more important, however, to see if the house is outside the curve
or inside the curve of something.
I stress once more:
Inside the curve - good luck!
Outside the curve - bad luck!
If someone has built his house on a plot that is directly the target
of the arrow, what to do to eradicate the possibility of misfortune?
There are two ways:
First, "tit for tat" - if you live near a huge round
building, you can design your house along the curve of that bow.
The curved design will absorb the negative effects of the bow
edge. In other words, two identical curves smooth out their negative
forces.
Second, "an eye for an eye" - if you live near a huge
round building, you can design a round building with the same
curve. Thus they are the targets of each other's arrows, with
their negative effects canceling out each other.
I feel deeply that to be with affection and without it and within
the bow and without it is very important, for they have to do with
principles about the land spirits. This is my own experience. These
levels of study are quite complex in geomancy, but careful analysis
will reveal fine distinctions regarding within the bow, without
the bow and straight rivers and roads.
Some careful study of all this will also reveal that the relations
among Heaven, Earth and Man are complex and subtle and are worth
exploring.
