Chapter 32 - A House Of Endless Illnesses
Americans live in houses with many problems. Probably by nature
they prefer to live in forests or live in little woods, with their
houses completely covered up by trees. There are tall trees in front,
tall trees behind and tall trees on both sides. There are many houses
covered up like that.
We often say, jokingly, "They haven't changed much from their
ancestral monkey - still preferring the woods."
During the early of my stay in the States, many of my American
disciples came to ask me to study their houses when they heard that
I practised geomancy. As a result, I have studied many American
houses. The Americans look very tall and strong, but in fact they
have a lot of illnesses as illnesses do not discriminate races.
I have an American student by the name of Moore.
Moore told me one day, "People in my family take turns to
fall ill. This has been going for three years. As soon as one person
recovers, another falls ill, with no interval in between. The money
spent on medical expenses now is beyond calculation. Worse still,
the mental and physical sufferings are immeasurable."
Moore called his house "a house of endless illnesses."
I went to look at this house.
It turned out to be a house under tall trees.
The house was not very big, but the trees were gigantic, with branches
and leaves spreading out, enveloping the little house. The tree
stems were huge and their roots had extended well under the little
house.
People living in a house like this had their Yang (positive) forces
all absorbed by the Yin (negative) forces from the trees. Negative
forces overwhelmed the positive forces. This would naturally make
people inside fall ill.
I told Moore to move. It was better not to live in a house under
big trees. Houses need a reasonable mixture of positive and negative
forces. When the trees are too high, the negative forces are too
strong, making the house unsuitable. As for Moore, since the trees
were difficult to move, it would be better to sell the house.
Finally Moore agreed to sell the house.
Masters of geomancy point out that the following land features
tend to make the house full of illnesses:
-
Waters from the north, south, east and west flowing towards
the hall.
-
Roads from the north, south, east and west pointing directly
to the hall.
-
The house covered up by tall trees whose roots reach well under
the house.
-
Water from a mountain dashing towards the main gate.
-
Huge rocks or an artificial mountain right at the main gate,
like part of the ornament of the courtyard.
-
The rooms in the house are either too bright or too dark.
-
The toilet adjacent to the kitchen. A manure pit adjacent to
a well. The toilet facing the main gate.
-
Heavy objects located in wrong places.
-
Too narrow a backyard. Steep slope or hard rocks right behind
the house.
Once I went to study the house of a friend called Fieboo.
Upon entering his house one ran right against the wall of the backyard,
which was not very deep though with enough space on the left and
right. There were hard rocks in a steep slope there. So I said at
once: "You have some illness."
"No, very strong all along," he replied.
In fact, Fieboo looked tall and strong, with outstanding muscles
and rosy cheeks. People present all felt strange when I said he
was ill.
"It's a minor illness, but it gives you unbearable pains,"
I remarked.
"What is it then?"
"Piles!"
Fieboo flushed at once. "You're right, Grandmaster,"
he admitted. "Piles indeed. Every one of them is like a hard
stone. They've been there for years now. They give me unbearable
pains from time to time. You are indeed very observant, Grandmaster!
How do you know?"
"The house has a narrow back. There are layers of hard rocks
behind the house. The slope is too steep. For all these reasons,
you suffer from that illness."
"What about people living in apartment, where there is no
rock or mountain? Why do they have it too?"
"There are no rocks or mountains in apartment buildings, but
pressed spaces and narrow places are there. They are just like hard
rocks or steep slopes, by a stretch of imagination based on geomancy."
A Book of Secrets on Land Spirits has this verse relevant here:
The chest suffers if the Louji star is around.
Swallows' nest on the beam causes bad skin ulcers.
A manure pit facing the gate makes one's belly bloated.
A pit on the dragon side produces insane people.
Rocks in a mess near a well mean broken arms or legs.
A broken doorframe also incurs skin ulcers.
