Chapter 27 - Houses That Produces High-ranking Officials
I, Living Buddha Lian Shen, have studied the book A Book on the
Secrets of Land Spirits, and after years' of careful observation,
know everything about houses.
Some people asked me, "What kind of houses produce high-ranking
officials?"
I replied, "Three layers of golden branches and jade leaves
or red snakes winding around the seal; or dragon buildings and phoenix
pavilions; or powerful objects with horns."
"These are very mysterious terms. Could you explain each of
them in simpler language?"
Let me give you the following explanation:
"Three layers of golden branches and jade leaves" - the
place we are to build the house on, is surrounded by three layers
of other houses at the right, left and back, and these houses are
in the shape of jade leaves on a golden branch. If this is to be
in a mountain, it is necessary to examine what is to be behind the
house and what is to be on both sides of it - there should also
be three layers of arched things in protection.
"Red snakes winding around the seal" - In a complex city,
we need to find its "master" - very much like the central
point in the lines of the hand. If we can find that center in terms
of land spirits and build a house upon it, it is then red snakes
winding around the seal. The comparison between the central point
in the lines of the hand and red snakes winding around the seal
is very appropriate. Only the best geomancers can find where the
center is.
The house of the Japanese Prime Minister - Yasuhiro Nakasoni is
a seal surrounded by red snakes.
"Dragon buildings and phoenix pavilions" - The "dragon"
and "phoenix" here both refer to the people in the houses,
which means they are extraordinary houses. In geomancy, this extraordinariness
lies in the grandeur of houses. The imposing manner can only be
detected by best geomancers. (It is said, for example, that the
dragons should be spiraling up and the phoenixes should be soaring
to the sky.)
"Powerful objects with horns" - An experienced geomancer
knows how to design a "powerful object" in a little shabby
house. This powerful object can help the people living in the poor
house. It can bring them great success or fame or positions of high-ranking
officials. This powerful object can only be designed by the best
geomancers, for if it is well-designed it can bring fame and success;
if it is wrongly designed, it brings misfortune.
To do all the above, the geomancer should know the following:
-
The earth imperial mandate leaves a wooden trace.
-
The fire imperial mandate leaves a golden trace.
-
The golden imperial mandate leaves a wooden trace.
-
The water imperial mandate is in the north.
-
The wood imperial mandate is in the south.
From these principles, predictions can be made about the rank of
officialhood and the direction of a certain position held by the
people in the house.
Generally, military officers of high ranks should be in houses
of a pointed shape; the pointedness is an indication of power and
grandeur. But at the same time, the house must be accompanied by
"honesty" and "faith" on the right and the left.
If the "powerful object" is not set up properly, one
may lose the position of a military officer and may become an ordinary
man or even become a scoundrel.
There is a verse that goes like this:
With the shining of honesty and faith, the house produces
military officers.
An avaricious wolf on a flat roof foretells misfortune.
Flags and drums on both sides may result in murder lawsuits.
Born from a shining place one may hold military power.
(This is a verse about graves, but houses and graves are in fact
closely related.)
I, Living Buddha Lian Shen, find that although graves make use
of land forces and houses make use of vitality forces, the two types
of forces go together, without much difference. For example, if
water is above earth, water goes along with earth. If wind is above
water, it goes along with water. They tend to go in the same direction.
The principles concerning houses that produce high-ranking officials
are highly confidential. Only on rare occasions do I pass on these
secrets to disciples. Such secrets are priceless. There are special
pithy formulas for the way to study them. It is no easy job to understand
these formulas without instructions from the best geomancer.
Among my disciples, there is a young man who, according to my observation,
has the looks of a high-ranking official.
I told him to set up a "powerful object" in his little
room.
This young man now is the first among the students, and later he
will be doing a Ph. D. degree.
When he enters his official career, he will be in the rank of a
duke, as the verse goes:
He will be an honest official with great learning and writing
talent.
He will be the best judge with imperial mandates.
A true scholar living in a dragon building and phoenix pavilion,
He is rewarded for his outstanding service.
I have got miraculous powers of geomancy. For a poor young man
to become a high-ranking official requires the working of the vitality
forces of the house.
