Dear Grandmaster
Lian-shen,
The students of
the City of Abe, in the Sabah State in Malaysia, truly consider
them-selves to be fortunate and of good karma to have had
the opportunity to meet with the Grandmaster when you compassionately
bestowed upon us a visit to give us teachings and the chance
to make offerings to you. As with the arrival of Buddha Shakyamuni
himself, Grandmaster is so naturally full of grace and spirituality
that people sprout a heart of reverence at their first sight
of you.
For more than
ten years, in order to satisfy my curiosity and need for knowledge,
I have read Grandmaster's books. They have completely enraptured
me. The contents of the books, themselves records of real
events that resemble fantasies, are so mysterious that one
sometimes feels as if one is reading stories of gods and spirits.
Many people, urged by the strong desire to seek the Tao in
order to break through to the next stage of evolution, have
been groping blindly in the dark, practicing on their own
because of the lack of enlightened teachers.
Today, the spiritual
leader for whom we have longed, a Living Bodhisattva who seeks
out the wails of the suffering, has finally come to us, as
we have so intently desired, giving us personal initiation
and empowerment. By receiving direct oral teachings on the
secrets of the Tantric practice, our dreams of many years
have finally materialized. All our doubts have been removed,
like the moving away of clouds to reveal the shining light
of the sun. Our determination to reach the Tao is now firmer;
thus, the Grandmaster's visit is of great, practical significance.
At the same time, your visit has also laid down a good foundation
for the Original Awareness Society here in Sabah. With the
dispersing and sowing of good seeds, there will surely in
the future be blossoms and the bearing of fruits.
Like a strong
wind uplifting our minds, this last visit of Grandmaster to
Sabah has caused a great stirring force here in the religious
life of Abe City. The attendance and the number of people
taking refuge that night at the Dharma Ceremony at the Pi
Nan Society have, indeed, broken the local record. The night
of the ceremony there were many miraculous incidents. I will
list them briefly as follows:
Several unusual
Light Photographs of Grandmaster were taken. In the pictures
there can also be seen, in the air above Grandmaster, appearances
by gods of light. I am enclosing copies of these pictures
in this letter.
During the empowerment
ceremony at the Pi Nan Society, my wife, Lianhua Pao-chieh,
and I could smell a mysterious fragrance that was as subtle
and wonderful as orchids.
Many other people
also smelled it.
There was a Mr.
Hsieh who saw a dignified, fierce-looking Dharma Protector
with tusks and a green face. This Dharma Protector emitted
great, red flames and was standing guard behind the Grandmaster.
This protector could be seen by Mr. Nsieh for quite a long
period of time.
Many people attended
the ceremony because, in an earlier temple festival nearby,
there was a worshipper who suddenly went into a channeling
trance, claiming himself to be the Bodhisattva Kuan-yin, and
asking all the worshippers to go, on a certain date, to the
Pi Nan Society to take refuge in the Vajra Master Sheng-yen
Lu. The Deity also said that the Grandmaster is the supreme
and authentic Vajra Master in the world.
During the Dharma
Ceremony on the 16th of April, when they took part in the
group initiation ceremony that evening, they related this
incident to us. (There were also some who had attended because
they had dreamt that Bodhisattvas had instructed them to come.)
Some newly initiated
students were able to receive psychic responses during the
actual ceremony of empowerment.
Chun-hsi Huang,
a Dharma friend, told me that, during the time Grandmaster
formed the Ksitigarbha Original Vow Mudra, he distinctly saw
parts of both Grandmaster's arms become transparent, like
violet crystals. Chun-hsi Huang said he could even see the
five colored blood circulating inside the arms. When Grandmaster
demonstrated how to perform the Armor Protection, by reciting
the mantra and performing the mudra, right at the moment when
the Grandmaster's fist hit his palm, Wong saw a brilliant,
red light explode in all directions.
Also, During the
first night when we had a teaching gathering at Lian-hui's
home, someone saw Grandmaster manifesting in the form of a
wrathful Dharma Protector.
There was an even
more miraculous incident:
In Grandmaster's
books, we have read that the Padmakumara is a Great Fortune
Giving Vajra and that wherever he travels, he brings fortune
to the hosts and prosperity to the land. During this visit
to Sabah, there was a great confirmation of this. So far we
know that several disciples of the Original Awareness Society
have become richer by forty thousand Malaysian dollars (about
twenty thousand US dollars). There may be more yet unknown
lucky winners.
This was how it
happened: The Lotto that is popular here in the Malaysia has
four winning digits. During his visit, the sedan we used to
chauffeur the Grandmaster was a Mercedes 300 with the license
plate 218. In order to show our respect for the three masters
who have visited us, we added the number 3 before the number
218. Several students were inspired by this and picked the
number 3218 for their Lotto tickets. On Sunday, April 22nd,
when the first prize winning number was revealed, it was indeed
the number 3218! The people who won the jackpot were wild
with happiness. Grandmaster is, indeed, a Great Fortune Giving
Vajra, a wealth deity. It truly was miraculous.
After spending
several days in the company of Grandmaster, I feel that everything
about me can be observed by the wisdom eyes of the spiritual
master. I beg Grandmaster to have compassion and to give me
guidance regarding my fate and karma, how I may obtain the
Tao, and where is the place to which I must return.
Due to my habitual
disorder and lack of eloquence, the hospitality we gave to
the Master was imperfect. I hope Grandmaster will understand
and forgive us!
Peace in the name
of Buddha.
Sincerely,
Lian-mu
