Chapter 11 - Rescue In Secrecy

The Holy Red Crown Vajra Master Lian Shen, with his unlimited spiritual power, has already undertaken to rescue many people in secrecy. The wonderful Master has already obtained the approval of the many Buddhas, numbering in the ninety-nine billions of Ganges sands, and has the ability to emit the great light of the Tathagata.

In the course of rescuing people, the Master has manifested in numerous division bodies. His Heart Mantra represents all the great secret mantras, turning the great Dharma Wheel during his meditations. His transformstions are many and have already filled up the Universe.

There are also uncountable dragons (Nagas), devas, and gods that help him in spreading the Dharma. Maras escape upon seeing his lights. The Holy Red Crown Vajra Master Lian Shen is able to travel freely throughout the Buddha kingdoms and the nether world. His manifestations have already extended into the non-physical realms.

Here is a record of a non-physical rescue.

One day, after taking ablution, I entered the True Buddha Tantric Quarter, lit an incense and chanted the Thousand-armed and Thousand-eyed Great Compassion Heart Dharani. After chanting the Dharani seven times, I suddenly saw the Thousand-armed and Thousand-eyed Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva appearing, with light shining from one of the hands that form the willow branch holding mudra. This willow branch holding hand signifies the riddance of all kinds of illnesses of the body. While I was amazed, the index finger of this hand suddenly pointed towards the ground.

All of a sudden, I found myself in the nether world. Although in the nether world, I was still suspended in space, being enveloped by a gentle, auspicious light being emitted from my whole body.

I saw many spirit-guards running to and fro. I saw those who had descended to the nether world were suffering from "frying," "sawing," "snake bites," and "burning." They cried painfully. It was cruel to watch. One of the kings of the nether world, sitting high up and looking stern, was leafing through a registry. Suddenly, he cried out, "Arrest 'XXX' quickly and bring him here."

Upon hearing this, the two spirit-guards on each side made ready to leave the palace.

As soon as I heard it was "XXX", I knew he was my student. I was astonished, and quickly folded my palms and respectfully asked the nether world king,

"Your majesty, wasn't that my student 'XXX' you just mentioned?"

"That is the right person."

With the auspicious light protecting me, I moved towards the desk this time and saw that the records on the registry detailing the stated time of my student's death was between 9.00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m., on the 19th day of the seventh month of the lunar calendar, at forty-eight years of age. I folded my palms and spoke to the king respectfully.

"This student has not done any bad deeds in his life and is practicing the Tantra very diligently. In the future, he is going to do the work of salvation and will be the backbone of our school. If he dies, he will not fulfill his wish. Please grant him a pardon!"

"Venerable Lian Shen, this registry is the secret order of the highest commander of the nether world. I would not dare to take the matter in my own hands to release him, unless there is a special reason," the king said.

At this time, the king ordered the scribe at his side to check again into the merits of "XXX." As a result, they found out that he had recently talked ten people into taking refuge in the True Buddha School, persuaded people to practice cultivation and to chant the Guru Heart Mantra, the Great Compassion Dharani and the names of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas.

The king was delighted, "Give him another twelve years of life according to these merits!"

I was also glad to hear that!

From the nether world, I returned to my True Buddha Tantric Quarter and emerged from my meditation.

Soon thereafter I received a letter from "XXX" which said:

In the seventh month of the lunar calendar, I suddenly felt unusually fatigued, my whole body sweated, my mouth was dry, and dark circles appeared around my eyes. The doctors who checked me said I was in kidney failure. I had many weird dreams at night and my energy level was low during the day. I felt like collapsing when I walked and my back ached.

Even when my body was very weak, I did not forget to bow to the Kuan Yin Bodhisattva every day, recite the Universal Gateway Article of the Lotus Sutra, recite the Guru Heart Mantra and pray for the help of Master and Bodhisattvas. Despite having seen many doctors and having had many medications, I did not get well. Instead, I came down with a high fever that would not recede.

Following a Tantric teaching Master had previously taught me, I practiced the Willow Hand Yoga every day continuously for a week. At the beginning, being sick, I had to struggle to finish with it, and the illness did not get better, it seemed to be getting worse and worse.

One night, sometime after the middle of the seventh month of the lunar year, I saw Master in a dream and Master gave me a bowl of medicine to drink. Suddenly, I felt completely recovered from the illness. From then on I got better, recuperating gradually. The prescribed medications started to work well too. I was overjoyed.

I did not write to Master for a long time due to this illness which I went through. From now on, I will take special care of my health, because health is the prerequisite for spreading the Dharma of the True Buddha School. Master always taught us to look after both our health and our mind. This illness has given me a great revelation. Thank you Master for your protection.

This was the letter of "XXX."

His letter proved all that I had seen. Undoubtedly, he had escaped death this time. This is the advantage of taking refuge, practicing meditation, and performing charitable deeds. In my reply to his letter, I did not mention what I had seen. As a matter of fact, I did not save him. He saved himself.

There are many illnesses that are related to "cause and effect" and "karma." Doctors may not be able to cure these kinds of karmic sicknesses. There are many strange illnesses for which doctors are not able to find causes.

I advise students that it is necessary to see doctors. In addition, however, students must also cultivate their minds and bodies, and perform more good deeds, (such as reciting the powerful Thousand-armed and Thousand eyed Great Compassion Heart Dharani). Drinking the Great Compassion Dharani Water also generates many inconceivable miracles. These kinds of psychic responses are too numerous to be mentioned.

The Holy Red Crown Vajra Master Lian-shen believes that all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas have great compassion and loving kindness, possess all supernatural powers and, in response, will secretly come to the help of those who are in danger. For Buddhas and Bodhisattvas to come to your rescue, it is necessary to sincerely pray and to recite their names and mantras. There will be a response. I know the sufferings of sentient beings are incessant. To have Buddhas and Bodhisattvas help in response, it is necessary to have great sincerity and to learn to become a Bodhisattva. Then if one is in danger, Bodhisattvas will respond and come to help.

If one is without sincerity, Bodhisattvas will not respond. If one is without kindness, Bodhisattvas will not respond. For the same reason, if students of True Buddha School want to receive responses from the master, they must be "sincere" and "kind." The combination of these two qualities will enable students to receive responses. The Guru Heart Mantra, a great Dharani, emits great light like the great sun. This Heart Mantra contains great compassion, supernatural power, light of the Ten Directions, equal salvation, and the Pure Land of the Buddha.

The Guru's Mantra is inconceivable and those who recite it two hundred thousand times are the ones who have great affinity with the Western Paradise of Ultimate Bliss. They will all be saved.
