Chapter 27 - Spiritual Divination And Telepathy
In many of the Taoist classics and historical novels from ancient
times, the phrase "prompted by a sudden impulse" often
occurs. It describes the sudden surfacing of a certain sixth sense.
However, I truly believe that what is in question is not "an
impulses' or "sixth sense," but rather the special, sensitive
reaction of a soul with awareness. A soul with awareness does not
merely detect vibrational frequencies from the spiritual realm,
it can also respond to the vibrational frequencies of one's family
and friends. It is also likely for such an individual to suddenly
receive vibrational frequencies transmitted by a friend in danger.
Such happenings seem very mystical, but they really are not.
I have detected two kinds of energies in the space: thought energy
and psychic or soul energy. Approached from another perspective,
there is selfpower and extraneous power. Thought energy is often
generated by one's own power. When one's thought energy reinforces
one's own psychic energy to interact with an extraneous power, a
new thought or intention is generated. This new intention can be
regarded as a result of "telepathy." Although this description
sounds complicated, the actual event takes place in a flash that
is as quick as an electric current. When one turns on an electric
switch, the bulb will be lit within a fraction of a second.
When we concentrate and focus our thought energy in a certain matter,
such as turning the dial of a radio, an intended result will be
generated. The stronger the thought energy, the more magnified will
be the response. This experiment to test the power of thought has
been documented in the past: when a group of people prayed together
and directed their thought energies to problem solving, they would
find a solution readily, no matter how difficult the problem was.
The result would often seem unexpectedly miraculous. There was one
experiment wherein people held hands and concentrated their thoughts
on wishing that a sheet of paper before them would float and fly
away. Strangely, the sheet of paper flew up in front of their eyes.
This kind of power, like the static electricity generated from rubbing
hands, is not entirely without scientific basis. When one places
hands that have been rubbed rigorously together over small pieces
of paper shreddings, the static charges generated from the rubbing
will cause the paper shreddings to start to flutter.
Under the drive of thought power, psychic energy is generated,
and when it communicates with extraneous psychic powers, information
from the future is accessible. This is the basis of the ability
of Spiritual Divination. Although we are not conscious of it, a
kind of psychic energy pervades throughout the Universe. When one's
soul is active and wants to find out about any problem, one can
pose the question and obtain an answer. This kind of Spiritual Divination
is of the highest level and completely under one's own control.
It means that one's soul can travel out of one's body to roam freely
among various lands and waters of the world. It means that one may
move freely at will to any plane of existence, from the heavens
to the nether worlds. When one reaches the most ideal state, one
can even manifest in bilocation, the transformation of one soul
body into two soul bodies, or even myriads of forms that fill up
the vastness of space. In a person with a medium level of psychic
ability and whose soul cannot yet travel freely, the channelling
of psychic energy can result in the development of Divine Eyesight
by which one can observe, like a telescope, things in heaven and
on earth, the various astronomical and geological phenomena, as
well as into the realm of the spirits. When one obtains the faculty
of Divine Hearing, one can hear what is inaudible to other people,
as well as conversations among ghosts and gods.
At the lowest level, where psychic development is just beginning,
the soul is active but one does not yet have command over it. Without
any spiritual training, one cannot see or hear the realm of the
spirits. However one can still receive vibrational frequencies or
thoughts.
Do not slight this ability of "telepathy" as some people
cannot even succeed that far. To engage in "telepathic reception"
one has to completely abandon one's subjective views and pray quietly
for guidance from the higher realms. If one is too subjective, the
telepathic messages received will be colored by one's own ideas
and not be accurate.
A young man, who had received psychic training from me, once came
to ask me,
"Teacher, although my soul is active, I don't have any special
vision or hearing. Why is this so? I also do not have any telepathic
ability. What good is it to have such a 'live' soul?"
I remarked, "The resurrection of the soul is just the first
step in spiritual cultivation. The training is a success when one
continues to work to open up all of the knots in the psychic passages.
There is another effective method, different than the method of
Divine Eyesight and Divine Hearing, which I can teach you. It involves
the use of hands."
I asked him to sit down quietly with hands joined, and to focus
his mind on one single object, not thinking of anything else. This
kind of method is carried out after one prays sincerely to the higher
beings in the spiritual realm. One has to open one's heart and not
hold any preconceived views. During meditation, one enunciates the
question clearly to the spiritual realm and sincerely asks for guidance
to be given through the movements of one's hands. For example, "if
the project in question will succeed, please give the hands a big
movement, and if it will fail, make the hands tremble slightly."
A positive answer is a big movement, and a negative answer is a
small movement. The spirits in the space have to simply move the
joined palms to give one the answers. (The movements of the hands
are involuntary and not caused by one's own mind.)
One should be able to feel clearly the movements and later confirm
the prediction with facts. When the results are corroborated by
the reality, one will have personally experienced the phenomenon
of "psychic" hands.
"Although the method of psychic hands is not a high level
method of channeling, with long practice it will lead to the development
of telepathy. Do not treat it lightly," I explained to him.
"Teacher, will it really work?"
"Give it a try, and you will know."
Several days later, the same young man came happily to see me.
He said he had had a miraculous experience. He had someone toss
a die, cover it up, and he would guess which number it was. He used
the psychic hands method and got it right each time for five consecutive
tosses. His friend was puzzled and kept on tossing the die five
more times. Each time he got the correct number. His friend was
greatly astonished, while he was greatly elated. This was proof
for the existence of his psychic ability.
Truthfully, since my soul is awake and active, many invisible friends
from the world of spirits often pay unannounced visits to me. If
they find me busy in the middle of my writing, they sometimes drill
into my train of thought (causing a tingling sensation) to let me
know of their arrival. Sometimes they come to bring me news of imminent
events. Other times they just drop in without any particular reason.
With so many friends in the spiritual realm, my life is really full!
At this writing, I am reminded of the reason behind most people's
lack of belief in the existence of the soul. Since they do not see,
hear, or have any awareness of their souls, they do not believe
in the soul's existence. In fact, many Buddhist and Taoist monks,
Christian ministers, and Catholic priests also deny the existence
of spiritual phenomena. Their denial is no different than knocking
down their own teachings. It also tells us that a great number of
monks, ministers, and priests basically cannot see into the world
of spirits. It pains me to see so many religious administrators
and believers refuse to believe in the psychic and spiritual events
that I have truly experienced.
