Chapter 15: Can Drugs Bring Happiness?
Some say that the times have changed. Now, everybody looks for
happiness, which is not easy to get. Therefore, quick-minded businessmen
are quickly producing hot new drugs - can these drugs bring you
happiness?
Can't you see the small blue pills (Viagra) selling like hotcakes
all over the world? Everyone expects these pills to quickly restore
the happiness that is lost when sexual ability fails. This drug
can be considered the best symbol for ultimate happiness.
Also, there is another medicine, Prozac, which was developed to
treat depression resulting from unemployment, humiliation, family
disputes, etc. This medicine is said to specifically treat depression,
and can improve your mood. By taking Prozac, will your worries will
go away?
Moreover, many doctors hope to inject human growth hormone into
their patients. This drug can improve bodily functions, heighten
awareness, accelerate metabolism, elevate mood, increase sexual
desire and is anti-aging, etc. The new generation nowadays especially
loves to try this medicine.
Furthermore, there is melatonin for treating insomnia specifically,
and placenta extract for boosting sexual ability for the gentlemen
and beautifying the body for the ladies. Phenteramine is available
for treating obesity. "Ecstasy" brings you cheerfulness
and high spirits .
I don't know how effective these drugs are, but I understand the
minds of human beings. Everyone wants to be happy, carefree, healthy,
youthful, and non-aging
I consider practicing the dharma to be better than taking drugs.
If you cultivate "Non-leakage Yoga", you won't need Viagra;
if you cultivate egolessness, you won't need Prozac; if you cultivate
the yoga of Chi, Channels and Light Drops, you won't need human
growth hormone; if you cultivate "Slumber Brilliance Yoga"
[Dream Yoga], you won't need melatonin .
The effect of "happy pills" is just temporary. If you
want eternal happiness, the dharma is the only panacea. It not only
saves the living, it also saves the dead.
