Chapter 12 : To leave and come back to Samsara
Some people said, "Shakymuni had entered nirvana for more than
2500 years and any contact would be impossible."
While others said, "Shakymuni, The World-honored Buddha, could
not be summoned nor dismissed upon one's request. That is just impossible!"
Some even said, "Shakymuni dwells in the nirvana of eternal bliss.
Samara is a filthy place so it is doubtful whether Shakymuni still
exists in this world or not."
In brief, people say that it is simply illusory and absurd to meet
Buddha in person and to listen to His teachings.
However, I have truly encountered such spiritual experience. I
was totally immersed in bliss, my body and mind was light, floating
and calm. Time and space just stood still. All I could sense was
the brilliance of Buddha surrounding me. I, at that instant, did
not exist. After every encounter with Buddha, I am aware that my
wisdom was more profound; and my willpower and mindfulness were
further strengthened. My potential and skills have become more revealed
and more refined.
Once, I have asked Buddha: " Has Buddha returned to the world?"
Buddha answered: "Returned thousand times, eight thousand
times.'
I was very surprised: "Eight thousand times?"
"Yes, an instant of thought makes three thousand!"
Buddha said, "Layman's one instant thought can prevail three thousand
worlds, hence, Buddha's light can shine free and omnipresent.
What is 'three thousand worlds'? This so-called 'three thousand
worlds', hell, hungry ghosts, beasts, asuras, men, sravkas (voice
hearer) and pratyekabuddhas (solitary realizer) are the Ten Dharma
Realms.
Each dharma realm within this 'Ten Dharma Realms' is composed of
ten realms, therefore, bringing it to a total of a hundred realms.
Furthermore, each realm within these hundred realms, has ten ru
(suchness) which brings it to one thousand ru. Within each ru, there
are three types of world: world of life, world of material and world
of five aggregates; which brings it to three thousand worlds.
I asked: "Can one see Buddha?"
Buddha answered: "If you are whole-hearted, then you will
see Buddha."
I would like to expound the following: In order to meet and listen
to the teachings of Buddha, one only has to have one thought and
one mind. This is the best vehicle to the marvelous truth. This
is the ultimate truth and spiritual experience.
In all honesty, I have detached from the concept of body. I have
no more greed, neither stupidity nor anger. I have forsaken the
burden of the physical body. My mind is now free.
My faith is as solid as the 'earth'
My mind power is as supple as 'water'
My transcendental power is as diverse as the flames of the 'fire'.
My transcendental traveling power is as smooth as the wind
Presently, I can enter and exit the Ten Dharma Realms freely. However,
I would not enter "Heaven of no anxieties", "Heaven Without Afflictions",
"Heaven of Good Sight", "Heaven of Ultimate Form" and "Heaven of
Good Manifestation" because these five heavens are the Heaven of
No-Return. Once one enters, one will be totally free from being
reborn. These heavens are the ultimate.
My decision is to leave and come back to the samsara.
I am aware that Buddha has returned to this world many times. Now,
living in this isolated little hut under the brilliance of the moonlight,
I reflect on my unusual life experiences. Continuously, for many
nights, I have expressed my vows firmly and repeatedly: I would
leave and come back to the samsara, life after life, to save sentient
beings.
When I ponder on the encounters I had with Buddha, listening to
his teachings, the unusual events and my own life experiences, I
cannot help my tears from rolling down. Buddha is no different,
He has returned to the samsara thousand times. This type of compassion
is so honorable and respectful.
I am thinking, whenever I am dying!
hardship till extremity!
body and mind is completely exhausted!
The fire is about to die out!
My heart turns to ashes!
Thus, I need more strength, more diligence, more profound wisdom
and deeper concentration.
Then, an unexpected condolence came:
"The esteem presence of Buddha."
I am absolutely certain and without a doubt that Buddhas can leave
and return to this world thousand times. Buddha instills me with
the power of stability and fills me with dharma joy. I am happy
to leave and return to the samsara.
