Chapter 6 - The Growing Sarira

Whenever I am back to Taiwan to do propagation work, "Chi Zhang" chapter will send two female attendants to take care of all my needs. They are very understanding and attentive. They did me great help in my trips. That is why, I care very much for them.

One of them is Wang Yin-Jing. She is very helpful in the propagation of True Buddha Tantra. She spent as much as two million NT dollars in the auction held during the formation of the Tantra association of Chinese True Buddha sect to bid for my rosary beads. Her vow is very touching.

Madam Wang Yin-Jing enshrined five fast growing sariras.

She wrote an article entitled " The magnificent dharma causation" on this incident. From her article, we may see the great response of Tantra."

She wrote as follows:

The incident must have a cause. The multi-purpose sports stadium situated at the Zhong Zhen Road of Woodbridge Town is always used by dharma masters to hold dharma talks. Since my house is very close to the stadium, I follow Grandmaster Living Buddha Lian-Shen's teaching to pay respect to other dharma masters and to have good causation with them.

On 22nd August 1992, there was a dharma function at the stadium, to raise fund for the erection of a museum for the world religions. The function is known as Sarira-Xin Hai Hua Yen Hui. It was organised by the founder of Vulture Hill Non-growth cultivation shrine, dharma master Xin-dao. The 100 sariras on displayed were given to him by a Nepalese lama whom he has made some offerings. Those interested in the sariras can purchase them. The price ranges from 10,000 to one million NT each.

Meanwhile, the headline of True Buddha news reads:

"The most spectacular event of the century, Dead convicts have Sarira."; the headline kept flashing in my mind.

I went to pay respect to the Sariras on display. To my surprise, they were very tiny, and not eyes catching at all. I told one of Master Xin-dao's female disciples Madam Lim:" I have enshrined five sariras at home, I do not know why they have grown to such a size within six months."

On the second day, Madam Lim phoned and told me Master Xin-dao would like to take a look at my sariras, as they have not seen any sariras that have grown so fast and so big.

With both hands I respectfully asked master Xin-dao to verify my five sariras. He did not verify at all, instead on seeing my sariras, he was so happy and kept saying they were of high quality; and should be shared. He praised my merits, and asked the sariras from me. I was very happy too, as grand master has taught me to donate my most valuable belongings. So I chose the biggest one that I loved most to offer to Master Xin-dao. As master Xin-dao was planning to have another exhibition in Guo Xiong on the seventh of November, and after that he wanted to keep the sarira in the Museum, he asked for more. So I gave another two to him. He thought for a while, touching the remaining sariras, as if he was still not satisfied. He wanted all but was shy to say so, finally I gave him one more.

Feeling a pain in my heart, at first, I was unwilling to give him, but when I remembered the grand master's teaching, to give him one more is no big deal. Luckily, master Xin-dao was very compassionate he left the last sarira for me. In return he gave me four tiny sariras that were smaller than Jintan. I must thank him, "Amitabha"!

At that time, the dharma bliss filled the whole area. Dharma master Xin-dao was very happy holding my hands. And his disciples surrounded me like a swamp of bees. They rushed to see and praise the treasures, and asked me how I made the offering. They have never seen anything growing so fast before. I told them solemnly I am a disciple of Living Buddha Lian-Shen, Vajra Guru Master Lu Sheng Yen of the True Buddha School. I am cultivating True Buddha Tantra. And I chant the guru mantra and High King Sutra. I told them also the benevolence of Living Buddha Lian Shen, and the Magnificence of True Buddha Tantra.

Grand Master taught us to cultivate our mind. Our mind must be upright, without attachment. We must cultivate daily. We must try to have unification with the dharma realm. We must not retreat even if we have to encounter all kinds of difficulties in our cultivation. Dharma master Xin-dao was full of praise after listening to what I said. He believed that I have accumulated great merit; and he has an understanding of grand master teaching.

His disciples asked me what is the guru mantra? I told them that is the heart mantra of our Grandmaster Living Buddha Lian-Shen: "Om guru, lian-shen sidhi hum."

They wanted to visit my shrine, to see how I make the offering, and how I cultivate the dharma. They wanted to learn from me how to grow the sarira. I extended my warmest welcome. I recalled Grandmaster's teaching, as a disciple of True Buddha School, I must be broad-minded, upright, without any discrimination. All human beings are equal and will be enlightened. I did not expect to have such response after learning the dharma from Grandmaster for three years only. I have cultivated once a day, chanting the guru mantra and High King Sutra, and make offerings to the sariras for half a year.

It is a big deal to have good causal relationship with dharma master Xin-Dao. I recalled when I attended the soul deliverance ritual held in Seattle on 15th of August when a death convict from Singapore by the name of Lian hua Bin Fa told us how he took refuge in Living Buddha Lian-Shen.

Living Buddha in his letter instructed him to chant the High King mantra one thousand times, and to chant guru mantra and cultivate the True Buddha Tantra every day. He had seen a miracle. He was acquitted and released two years later. He was at Seattle personally to relate his story. Many of his follow inmates had sariras after cremation.

This also reminded me of other responses. After I have chanted the High King sutra for five hundred times, I dreamed that a lot of cockroaches crawled out of my forehead after the medicinal paste was taken out. And little worms and hairless mouses were taken out. My unwholesome karma was lessened. I hope all the disciples of the True Buddha School will chant the guru mantra:

"Om, guru Lian-Shen sidhi hum" and High King mantra daily.

May I pay my respect to the Grandmaster and his wife.

Wishing them remain healthy; and living in this world forever.

This articles have three responses of Tantra.

1. The response of growing sariras.

2. The response of death sentenced convicts learning the Tantra, and obtaining sariras.

3. The response of chanting high king sutra to eradicate unwholesome karma.

Let us first talk about death sentenced convicts learning the Tantra, and obtaining sarira. This piece of news had shocked the whole world. The new papers from Singapore and Malaysia namely Sin Ming daily, New life, and Ming Sheng had used the front page to report the news.

A group of death sentenced convicts from the Changi Prison in Singapore took refuge in Living Buddha Lian-Shen, Master Lu Sheng-Yen in the prison.

They cultivated the True Buddha Tantra with unceasing effort. After executions, they were cremated and many sariras were found in their remains.

They were:

  1. Lian Hua Zhong Yi
  2. Lian Hua Yu Xin
  3. Lian Hua A Lin
  4. Lian Hua qing Wun
  5. Lian Hua Liang Cai
  6. Lian Hua Jin Feng
  7. Lian Hua Ming Hai
  8. Lian Hua Chin Bao
  9. Lian Hua Bao Cheng

What is Sarira?

It is a mixture of lots of "precept"," tranquillity" and "wisdom". It is an indestructible crystal from a Buddha's bones. The white one is known as bone sarira. The black one is known as hair sarira; and the red one is known as fresh sarira.

There are three types of sarira:

  1. Whole body sarira: The whole body is indestructible, e.g. the sariras of Duo Bao Buddha, the sixth partiarch of Zen Buddhism Master Hui Neng, and Master Chi Hang of Taiwan.

  2. Fragment body sarira: those remained by Shakyamuni Buddha and revered monks, so that human and heaven realms will have the merits of receiving offerings.

  3. Dharmakaya (dharma body) sarira - all the sutras regardless of vehicles.

True Buddha Tantra is truly a righteous dharma. That is why even death convicts can have sarira remain behind after cultivating the True Buddha Tantra.

Sarira is found only in the remains of revered monks, not in the ordinary folks. And now sariras are found in the death sentenced convicts of True Buddha School, what is the significance? It goes to prove that Living Buddha Lian-Shen Master Lu Sheng-Yen is a real unrestrained flower light Buddha. True Buddha Tantra are taught by the Buddha. The nine convicts are nine immortals who were here to show the tantric response.

We hear and see the proliferation of sariras. I have enshrined sariras,. They reproduce one, two, five, ten enough to fill the whole sarira stupa. They will multiply as long as we make offerings sincerely.

We hear and see the growth of sariras. The sarira that I enshrined was originally as small as Jin-dan, and it grew to the size of a bird egg. We call it Vajra sarira.

In the article written by Wang Ying Qing, it was stated clearly that she only make offerings for half a year, and it grew so big that nobody had even seen.

She chants "High King sutra", "Heart mantra of guru"

This is the tantric response.

Why is it after chanting the heart mantra of Living Buddha Lian-Shen Master Lu Sheng Yen, the sarira can grow? This is because the heart mantra consists of endless virtues. The purity of dharma will be able to guide the miss leading mind and sweeten all the dharma treasures. It embodies the inconceivable true-self.

The heart mantra embodies the following:

  • original bodhi
  • purity
  • brightening virtue
  • growth
  • the number one truth
  • and the most important function of own self.

As long as you chant the heart mantra, the sarira will grow, what is the reason? Using the self-nature and miracle will happen. The heart mantra of Living Buddha Lian-Shen Master Lu Sheng Yen is the brightest mantra, the most profound mantra, the unrivalled mantra, that is why the sarira can grow.

In order to enshrine the sarira, we have the hymn and mantra for it. The hymn must be recited once a day, the mantra must be chanted 21 times, once in the morning and once in the evening.

The hymn is as follows:

Whole-heartedly I pay my respect, to Shakyamuni Buddha who has perfect virtues, with a body full of sariras,

It's the origin of dharmakaya, and a revered symbol of dharma realm, we pay respect, show us your look, In me, me in,

empowered by the Buddha, we will be enlightened,

using the power of Buddha, to benefit all beings.

To vow a Bodhi heart and cultivate the Bodhisattva's precepts

and achieve Nirvana. I shall bow to the wisdom of equality.

The mantra is as follows:

To recite three times the name of Mamo root guru Shakyamuni Buddha

"yidibishui, weixiexieyi, yixiexie. paidanameiyi. yimeinapaidadanxieyi. yixiedan, paidanxieyi."

To cultivate Tantra and chant high king mantra, a cultivator will have response from his dreams. The Tantra divides the night into four periods

It is said in the "Manjushri Root King of Religions Sutra":

The dreams in the early night arise from the phlegm

The neglected dreams you had in the second period is resulted from the gall

The third stems from the wind.

Only the fourth is the truth.

To stop the unwholesome karma from occurring, the sutra said:

" the dream which is auspicious or otherwise will be explained in the following morning, all the puja rituals will be able to remove the misfortune............doing the fire puja unceasingly, a Vajra guru will be able to get rid of all the misfortune hindrance."

Dreaming about the triple gems radiate lights at you and receiving empowerment from guru and root deity is very auspicious. Dreaming about falling from a hill, or bitten by dogs and snakes is not so good.

Instances of dreaming about getting rid of unwholesome karma are many. Madam Wang Ying Qing's dream is one of them.

There are many cases of Tantric responses experienced by True Buddha disciples.

One dreamed that when she combed his hair, many black worms dropped down, and her headache was completely healed.

One dreamed that he cut open his own head, and pulled out a snake. He could feel his wit increased tremendously after awakened from his dream.

Some one dreamed that he vomited all kinds of spiders, big and small. After that he no longer would tell lies and boast. And he becomes eloquent.

Some one dreamed that his pores opened up. All kinds of black flies and worms crawling out. He felt very light; and all his sickness disappeared.

Someone dreamed that he went to a toilet. And the faeces was a big snake. And all his sickness cured.

I am telling all of you, as a tantric cultivator, we must learn to repent first. Once our unwholesome karma are eradicated, the merit will appear without your request. On the other hand, if the unwholesome karma is still present, your merit will be blocked, how are you going to receive benefit?

In conclusion, for the purpose of receiving benefit now, we must annihilate our unwholesome karma, this is a Tantric response.
