Chapter 15 - The Power Of My Puja
A hunchbacked disciple of mine came to take part in my puja. His
fellow villagers were very upset and attacked him.
The hunchbacked disciple read an article on "the strange news
of Hong Kong ritual", where miracles such as the dumb began
to talk, the deaf to hear, and the blind to see, the cripple to
stand up from a wheelchair, a human 'vegetable' to awake, and a
tumour that disappeared. He himself was very excited, and firmly
believed that Living Buddha Lian-Shen Master Lu Sheng Yen will be
able to cure his hunchback. He wanted to take part in the puja ritual
conducted by the Living Buddha.
"Will the hunchbacked be straightened?"
The chain reaction in the village was overwhelming. It is against
all kind of logic to have the hunchbacked straightened. Because
of this, none of the villagers believe he will be cured, and as
a result they also doubt the claim that puja ritual can cure sickness.
The villagers laughed at his revelry, made sarcastic remarks and
branded him illogical, unscientific, superstitious and self-deception.
However, as the article provided the names, addresses, and telephone
numbers of those who have experienced miracles for verification,
the hunchbacked disciple was still full of confidence.
The ridicule was unremitted.
"I may believe the puja ritual can cure flu."
" May cure Athletes foot!"
" Ha Ha Ha!"
" All the doctors will be jobless!"
"All the doctors and hospitals must learn and teach Puja."
The disciple paid special attention to Zheng Zhi Hen who was suffering
from amyotrophy, and confirmed that he was able to stand up after
taking part in the ritual.
Despite accusation and slander, he firmly believed that using puja
ritual to cure sickness is possible. He even took the trouble to
call and verify; and confirmed what the article had claimed. His
confidence increased.
On 26 April 1992, a Puja ritual organised by Taiwan Cao Tun Lei
Tsang temple was presided by Living Buddha Lian Shen master Lu Sheng
Yen. The hunchbacked disciple was among the crowd. As he was deformed,
and not very witty, just an ordinary disciple, he could only pray
:
Grandmaster, please cure my hunchback.
Grandmaster, please cure my hunchback.
Grandmaster, please cure my hunchback.
Living Buddha Lian-Shen lit the fire for the puja ritual.
He held the Vajra, and shook the bell, displayed mudra continuously.
All the Buddhas, Bodhisattvas and other saints from the universe
descended, and in unification with the fire and root guru. This
created an unlimited dharma power. The puja fire burnt away all
the disciples' unwholesome karma.
The hunchbacked disciple suddenly saw a bright ray in the sky.
He heard something, and smelled fragrance. He felt something in
his mouth, and he could feel a stream of warm air entering into
his head. His buttocks were shaking.
He knew the spiritual power has arrived. His bones and muscles
were cracking, as if all the muscles in his body were kneaded into
a dough, a lump,and back to normal. It was an internal change.
This is how the cosmic power, that is still not understood by human
beings, affects the human body.
It is just like a machine, the parts are striped and reassembled.
(The bones and muscles are moved)
In the end, the hunchbacked disciple could straighten his back.
His hunch was gone, and he was a normal person. When the empowerment
ritual started, he was still very confused. He shouted at the Grandmaster
on the roster "I have recovered, really fully recovered!".
The crowd looked at him, did not understand him.
He returned to his village.
Everyone was shocked to see him.
The villagers saw the effectiveness of the great response of Tantra
from this miracle.
All the villagers -young and old, took refuge in True Buddha School.
I am telling you the truth, my disciples have surpassed 1.2 million.
The dharma power to cure sickness is very convincing. It is unimaginable
unless you see it with your own eyes.
When carrying out the Tantric Puja, there must be a root image.
My habit is:

To eradicate misfortune - root image is Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara
- the compassion to succour.
-
To accumulate merit - root image is yellow fortune god - treasure
and willingness to help.

To have loving kindness - root image is Cundi mother of buddhas
- eagerness and assimilation.
- To tame the evil-root - image is Achala - prowess and mediation.
In Tibet, many gurus have the following habit:

To eradicate misfortune - Green Tara.
-
To accumulate merit - Yellow fortune god.
-
To have loving kindness- Gulu Gulie mother of Buddhas.
-
To tame the evil - Mahakala.
The Tantric puja derives its enormous power from two sources, the
tranquility of the presider, and the "other power" from
Buddhas, Bodhisattva and other saints. With two sources of power,
the effectiveness of empowerment is double.
The tantric Puja can be used:
- Before and after the retreat.
- Protection.
- Getting rid of unwholesome karma.
- Curing sickness.
- Empowerment by the cosmic power.
- Enhancement of dharma power.
- Birthdays of all the saints, empowerment rituals, building
temples, soul deliverance, protection of a country, prosperity
and other good deeds.
The items used in the fire puja are many and varied:

Clothes - for the body of the root deity.

Food - for the mouth of the root deity.
-
Fragrance - for the body of the root deity.
-
Flowers - for the hand of the root deity.
-
Tea - for the surrounding of the root deity.
The key to the success is the cultivator, the root deity and fire
must be in unification.
Generally, the rite is as follows:
- Purification and definition of boundary.
- Invocation and homage.
- Empowerment of rosary beads, vajra, bell and offerings.
- Armour protection ritual.
- Visualisation of root deity (mudra) .
- Chanting mantra (mudra).
- Lighting the fire (mudra).
- Officially making offerings to the root deity (mudra).
- Making wishes and transference of merit.
The ashes left behind by the fire puja, must be dealt with as follows:

To eradicate misfortune - throw them into flowing water,
take some for the patients to consume.

To accumulate merit - bury them in the field. Those
doing business, can take some and throw them in the shop.
-
To have loving kindness - place them at a high ground,
or wear them.
-
To tame the evil - Bury them under a major road, for
all to step upon.
I believe that Tantric puja is very important and the responses
are very glorious. To have responses, the cultivators of True Buddha
School must observe the following:
- Must be familiar with the ritual, be poised and graceful.
- Must pray sincerely,to increase confidence.
- Must be protected by the eight beings from the celestial world.
- Must have the tranquility power.
- Must make great vows.
- Must fulfil perfectly all the conditions for puja.
- Participants must have full confidence.
The responses from the Tantric Buddhism's fire puja is not accidental.
Each and every puja conducted will have many miracles. This is a
very special skill, to be in unification with the cosmic power.
The result is delightful.
The new testament of Bible recorded that Jesus Christ created many
miracles. We are able to do the same miracles now, we are enjoying
the fruit of success.
However, many people including scientists do not understand Tantra,
not to mention fire puja. They have different views:
A famous scientist said:
"Lu Sheng Yen, I understand him very well. He is lying,
he is a con man. The puja can cure sickness is just psychology
effect. For instance, the headache happened to stop, and they
said fully cured. A patient being treated by the doctor was almost
recovered, so after the ritual, he will be fine. I totally reject
the view that fire puja can cure sickness."
A famous internal designer said:
"I believe using puja to cure sickness is not prearranged.
Because the little boy was suffering from amyotrophy for many
years. So when he started to walk, his mother was moved. The little
boy will not pretend, his mother will not shed crocodile tear.
There is such a phenomenal in this universe."
A famous lawyer said:
"Using puja to cure sickness is very unconventional.
Lu Sheng Yen just lit the fire, and asked the patient to pray.
He did not treat the patients at all. I suppose you may believe
if you are cured, otherwise, you don't have to believe. This is
not a question of neutrality, not to confirm, not to deny. I think
we have to do research and observe more, put up our views and
to confirm it's truth. Fact is the most important element, no
matter what happened."
A famous doctor said:
"Puja treatment is a new term coined by Lu Sheng Yen.
From a doctor's view, this treatment cannot be accepted by the
modern medical science. But so are Chinese traditional medicine
and Qigong. Are you sure Chinese medicine and Qigong are not effectual?
In fact, quite a number of sickness was cured by Chinese medicine
and Qigong when Western medicine was hopeless.
To become a science, we must do more research on them. Puja
treatment, is a kind of spiritual healing. Such miracles as disappearance
of tumour, gall-stone and cancer happened. I must admit the power
of religion which is in itself inconceivable."
A politician said:
"The puja treatment by Lu Sheng Yen will be developed
into a great debate in future. To judge whether his treatment
is real or otherwise, we might as well make a judgement whether
the miracles created by Jesus Christ, or that of Sakyamuni Buddha
is true or not.
The power of religion is invisible. It stems from gods. Science
and politics are practical. As long as the puja treatment is not
superstitious, and show truth under strict controls. We must let
the nature takes its own course. Because all forms of religions
are developed under such circumstances."
I don't wish to repeat what others have said, but I would like
to quote two original letters:
The first, 'Tumour disappears':

Dear Grandmaster
Lian Shen
Our daughter Lian
Hua Qiong Zi had a tumour in her head immediately after she
was born. From the doctor's prognosis, it was not cancerous.
An operation to remove the tumour should be carried out when
she is two years old. We were very upset and sad on hearing
this.
At that time we
heard that grand master will be conducting a True Buddha puja
for merit accumulation, misfortune eradication and spiritual
healing to be held on 28 December at the government stadium.
On that particular night, the weather suddenly turned very
cold, the temperature dropped to the lowest for the last fifteen
years. It was only 3°Celsius. As a true Buddha disciple,
I have full confidence. In order to eradicate our daughter's
misfortune, we brought our daughter to take part in the ritual,
hoping the Grandmaster could empower our daughter to get rid
of her misfortune and cure her. During the ritual, we followed
the instructions given by the grand master and used the hand
to press the tumour, and sincerely prayed.
On our way home,
our daughter's tumour was already disappeared, it is really
a miracle! We were very happy indeed! With this letter, We
would like to thank our Grandmaster who had empowered her,
so that she need not go for operation and suffered unnecessary.
Enclosed are photographs of her before and after the ritual,
to be used as an evidence.

The second letter - 'Stone in the gall has disappeared'

Talking about
the puja ritual, I must praise the almighty power of Grandmaster,
and thank him accordingly, the miracle is as follows:
December 28,1991
was a cold night, despite strong north wind, and drizzling,
at the Hong Kong government stadium, the seats were all occupied.
Our respected Grandmasters leading the gurus from all over
the world entered the stadium solemnly with a compassionate
heart to conduct the most wonderful puja ritual in Hong Kong's
history for the sake of succouring human beings.
That night, our
5 family members together with family members of my brother
and sister and my mother -- more than ten of us took part.
Since my gall
has a few stones, and my cholestral level is high, when the
Grand master was doing the ritual, I concentrated and pressed
the gall sincerely, and prayed that the grand master could
heal my stones in the gall, so that I don't have to go for
an operation in future. I did not have any feeling after the
ritual. September this year, I went for routine checkup. after
blood test, urine test and laser scanning, I was very surprised
to note apart from high cholesterol, I am normal in every
aspect. My stones in the gall had disappeared without treatment.
I knew instantly,
it was the Grandmaster's dharma power that created this miracle.
When I went home, immediately, I burned incense and prayed
to the Grandmaster to thank his healing me. Grandmaster, I
am really indebted to you, I am willing to be your witness!
On the other hand,
I regretted I did not at the same time prayed that the Grandmaster
could heal my cholesterol level and solve my court case? Am
I asking too much? Please forgive me! |
Many wrote to inform me their sickness had been cured after the
ritual. Some of them, only wrote in one year later to ensure they
did not have a relapse.
If I were to publish all the letters, I have to write ten books.
'Gall stones vanished'
'Tumour evaporated'
'Cancer disappeared'
'The hole in heart was closed'
'Pneumonia cured'
'Recovered from lupus'
'Reproduction of decomposed skins'
A lady by the name of "Xun Yan Zi" was even more excited.
As she was born with uneven legs, one leg is shorter by a palm's
length. She has to take a dip for every step.
She took part in the ritual.
Returning home she dreamed that a goddess with flowers came to
observe her body. Her legs were measured many times, in fact more
than ten times. The goddess broke the flower branches into more
than ten parts.
The ludicrous thing is that she put the branches into her legs,
opened and closed her legs for more than ten times, as if she was
performing an operation.
Awaken the second day, she felt normal when her legs touched the
ground. Together with her child, she was very thrilled to celebrate
her new life.
Succouring human beings is a tough job filled with a lot of obstacles.
When they are free from troubles, you will feel very happy and delighted.
