Chapter 12 - Auspicious Signs Of Transmigration

A very good evening to gurus and fellow cultivators.

Before giving my sermon, may I invite Lian Hua Bing Fa from Singapore to tell us how the dead convicts of Changi Prison cultivated the Tantra and obtained Sarira. Lian Hua Bing Fa please. (applause to welcome him)

Ladies and Gentlemen, I am from Singapore. The True Buddha News has reported that Sarira were found in the remains of dead convicts. But many readers do not believe it. I would like to use this opportunity to tell you that it is true, as I am a witness. How dare I say so? Because I was one of the fellow dead convicts. We were together for more then three years. I saw how they cultivated in the cells. They were very keen in the propagation of True Buddha Tantra. (applause) They showed great respect and praised our grand master. On behalf of all the dead convicts from Singapore, may I invite the grand master to visit the prison again, so as to empower them to attain Buddhahood. (applause)

As the all disciples living in the cells are facing the gallows, they were able to treasure the True Buddha Tantra. Dharma brothers and sisters, as all of you are enjoying freedom now, I hope you do treasure our True Buddha Tantra, and cultivate wholeheartedly.

I believe we could value the photographs of Buddhas, Bodhisattvas and the Grandmaster more. In the prison cells, the inmates really treasured the photograph as something invaluable. (applause) It is passed from one to another. In other words, after the execution of the inmate, the photograph will be handed to the second one on the execution list, so that he can pay homage. As we are free now, we have the opportunity to prostrate to the Grandmaster, we must really show respect to our teacher and treasure his dharma.

On behalf of the disciples from the prison, may I thank the Grandmaster for his empowerment! I have committed many mistakes previously, and I am very remorseful now. I understand the law of Karma. I made vow to the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas that I will not make the same mistake again. The miracle that I am spared from the gallows could be attributed to the spiritual books written by the Grandmaster. The teachings on cause and effect have benefitted me a lot, I will not make the same mistake again.

I have chanted countless times of High King sutra when I was in the prison. Grandmaster advised me to chant one thousand times, but I did more than that. Dharma brothers and sisters, if you have a lot of unwholesome karma, you must remember to chant the High King sutra more often, thank you very much.

Lian Hua Bing Fa left something for me to complete. When I received his letter from the prison, I asked him to chant the High King Sutra on thousand times in my reply. Then I went to Singapore Changi Prison to visit him. He is a convict who has been sentenced to death. It is almost impossible to change that. But I told him he could live if he appeals, because I need to have someone as a witness in my ritual. (applause) There were so many disciples there, only Lian Hua Bing Fa's face showed a ray of red light. He is the only one to be saved. From the opening of the cells, which is as small as a human head, I went in to talk to him.(applause)

There are more than one hundred disciples still cultivating the True Buddha Tantra from Singapore Changi prison.(applause) They prostrate to a small photograph, and recite sutra. The True Buddha Tantra is really magnificent.(applause) It was reported that more than ten of them have sarira after their executions. This is a fact, so is the True Buddha Tantra, a buddhism of right belief. Vajra gurus are really vajra gurus. Think for a while, how else can we prove that True Buddha Tantra is a real thing. To have sarira after cultivating the True Buddha Tantra must be a concrete evidence. Therefore, you shouldn't have any more doubt, you should cultivate unceasingly.

All of us must die eventually. Grandmaster is no exception. When the house you are staying is too old, the pipes may burst, the roof may cave in, the wall may collapse, and the contents may decompose. You must change the house. A cultivator, who is a real living Buddha will have mastered two dharmas. The first is to leave the house, known as "Li Shi". The second is to change to a new house, known as "Duo Shi", rinpoche, or Living Buddha. In short, when you are able to control your life and death, you are considered a living Buddha.

The following may happen in the future:

A female disciple comes to take refuge in the Grandmaster.

She is young, pretty and kind. And she is expecting. I am very excited when seeing a pretty woman. Suddenly my blood pressure shoots up. Empowering her, I tell her that I would like to be in her stomach. If I make that statement, I must prepare to change my house. I shall die soon. All of you must remember to look for the woman, as I will be her child. This is how a rinpoche is reborn.

Why do living Buddha not seek rebirth in the West? Why do they seek rebirth life after life? Because many Living Buddhas made vows to come back to the samsara world to succour other human beings life after life. If you make the same vow, you will be a living Buddha in future. Otherwise you may have transmigration to the Western world or Maha Double Lotus Pond. I must have made a wrong vow (laughter), that is why I have to be in this world life after life. (applause)

I had been born in Tibet and Japan before. When I was in Japan, I was a famous religious leader, that is why I am a bit of male chauvinist, and must be more tolerant. I have to learn from Bodhisattvas, learn the six perfections, and the wisdom of "tolerance". Once I was a tribal chief in Africa, another time I was in the Middle East, but I was never born in the States. I had many transmigrations now. As all of you have deep caustation with me (applause), when you see me, or when I see you, we look familiar to each other. Your blood and mine are connected somehow (applause). That is reason enough for me to bring all of you back to the Western Paradise, to the Maha Double Lotus Land. (applause)

When going for transmigration or rebirth, the feet will cold off upwardly, kneels, Dan Tian (four fingers below the navel), throat, and finally the head. The sense will be moved to the head and forced out for rebirth. On the other hand, if the head cools off first, than the throat, heart, Dan Tian, feet and finally the sole, this is the sign of rebirth in the hell realm. What about from the eyes? It will be a moisture-born, to be born as fish, or other sea creatures, may be sashimi eaten by the Japanese. (laughter) What about from the ears? It will be rebirth by transformation. From the noses, it will be Egg-born. So is from the mouth. From the stomach or from Dan Tian, it will be womb born.

As I said before, at the moment of death, all kinds of illusions will appear, it is dreadful. From the dharma of liberation of Bardo (a state between death and rebirth), we know the sufferings - the bones and muscles will feel very painful. Then the blood stops flowing. The body experiences a volcano eruption. Everything including muscles and blood is annihilated. Then the internal as well as the external breathing, the Qi (air) will be topsy-turvy before coming to a complete halt.

The dead will enter in a stage of illusion. It is pitch dark everywhere. Things that the dead frightened most will appear whenever a forward step is taken. There is no where to hide. Suddenly the deceased sees a hole nearby, and his head goes in.

Alas, when he opens his eyes again, he is in a pig sty. His nose is longer now, his hands become the pig's legs, and he has four legs. This is one of the transmigrations in the six realms of existence.

At the time of death only the "right mind" can save you from sufferings. It is derived from daily cultivation. When the sense is about to leave the deceased's body, a revered monk may teach the sense how to navigate by giving instructions through his ears. This is the dharma of liberation of Bardo.

If the deceased is lucky to have a rinpoche around in his final moment, the rinpoche will be able to cultivate a tile-breaking ritual on his behalf, so that the deceased will be able to find a way out of his head. It is important to have the right mind, and recite mantra, so that the sense can be guided to the right path. If the deceased is still attached to his descendants and thinks of his grandson or granddaughter's marriage, then he will surely be born in the human realm. The deceased must also not think of how much money he has not spent, and who owes him money.

To leave the samsara world and the sufferings associated with it for good, one must untie all forms of causation.

All kinds of auspicious signs will appear at the final movement, if one cultivates Buddhism. For instance, many people do not know when they will die, but those who practise Buddhism know.

Buddhas and Bodhisattva will tell them to the last detail such as the month and the day. This is a one hundred percent sure of auspicious transmigration. There are other types of auspicious signs. For instance, a ray of light may line the dark room. The ray may be white red, pink or yellow and rest upon the corpse. This is the manifestation of light through daily cultivation, and the cultivator will surely have a good transmigration.

It will be good if the deceased's face shows kindness and full of smile. If the face looks as if he is very frightened of ghost, then it is bad. In fact, these signs already show up when the deceased is still alive. If he looks at the mirror and see a compassionate look in it, he will be happy. If he dislikes his ghostly face, then he should change his heart fast.

It is not an auspicious sign if the deceased has foul smell after his death. A person reborn in the Western world will sprinkle nice fragrance in the surroundings to show his auspicious rebirth.

When the deceased hears melodious heavenly music being played from afar and re-bounce, it is an auspicious sign. There is such a thing called heavenly music, people around will hear music made by jade and bells. Thereafter, goddesses will appear and fete the deceased to rebirth.

If the sound of chicken, dog, pig, goat or other pitiful sounds of animals are heard, the signs are not auspicious. It is a transmigration to animal realm. If the deceased sees his ancestors, it is inauspicious. If the decreased cups his hands and says any of the following: "Amitabha is in front of my bed", "The three saints of the Western world are in front of my bed," "Avalokitesvara is in front of me, and he brings a lotus stage to welcome me", these are proofs of auspicious signs.

After cremation, if any sarira are found, it is a good sign. Sometimes, although there are no sarira, it can still be a good sign. As the deceased uses his internal fire to burn himself, and sits still there. When he is touched, he decomposes into a heap of ashes.

Another auspicious sign is the deceased has a body full of sarira. His clothes may rot, his sting of rosary beads burst, his white pearls blacken, his amulet turns from bronze to purple colour or even becomes rusty, but his complexion still maintains a nature colour, never shows any sign of depression or dryness. In fact, this is the best sign.

There are other types of good signs. A dragon descends from the air, the Grandmaster mounts on its back and ascends to the sky. This is good.(applause) Do you know how did guru Padmasambhava ascend to the sky? Four heavenly kings were holding the legs of a heavenly horse that descended from the sky. After he mounted on the horse back, the four kings carried the horse legs and ascended to the sky. This is good. One of these days, when the Grandmaster is delivering a sermon, a white lotus may descend, it is a real dharma seat that comes to fete me to rebirth, then this is an auspicious sign of first class.

What must we do to have good signs?

To what extent must we cultivate the True Buddha Tantra then the good signs will appear? We must cultivate to a certain extent, then the good signs will appear. Why is it when you reach a certain extent, the good sign will appear? Because your magnetic field and that of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas will be close. When you do your meditation, or when you visualise the look of Buddha, a lotus will grow from the water under the Buddha. And this lotus will radiate light at your body. All your unwholesome karma will become black smoke and flow out from the pores and other channels, and your body will also radiate brightness. When the intensity of this brightness increases, you will be able to be in unification with that of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. When the lights of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas radiate at your pores, it can open up and accommodate many Buddhas in them. When you embody so many Buddhas, you will be enlightened. You will definitely show good signs of transmigration. That is why Tantra claims a person can be enlightened in his life time.

What about Mahayana? To what extent must a cultivator reach before he will show signs of transmigration? He must reach a stage when he recites the name of Amitabha, Amitabha Buddha appears in front of him. If Amitabha Buddha does not appear, then he will not have a good transmigration.

Reaching this stage of cultivation, a person will know when he is going to die, as he knows the law of karma, and cultivates his own brightness which can reach that of all the gods, Bodhisattvas and Buddhas.

How to stop the mind wandering during meditation

There are many ways of visualisation in Tantra and other forms of Buddhism. Some disciples asked me: "How come I can't stop my wandering mind during meditation?" The best way to stop wandering mind is to cultivate a visualisation known as "counting-breath" method. When you start to count the number of breath you have taken, your full concentration is on the number, you will forget about the wandering mind. When the number counted reaches infinitive, you will become single-minded; and you can turn this into nothingness. When you reach that stage, your breathing and your senses seem to have entered a phase of neither existence nor non-existence. And the qi (air) in your body will be re-bouncing. Your body is extremely light, and achieve a level of lightness tranquillity. Everything is floating; and you will taste the nature of dharma realm. In this stage of deep concentration, you are really in a true samadhi.

When you cultivate the visualisation known as the "Filthy method", you will see all phenomena as filthy and unclean, this is how you get rid of your greed.

After that you must cultivate the visualisation known as the "Contributing your body method", what is the aim of this? It is to subdue your hatred. Do you always lose your temper? Are you full of hatred towards others? Try to think of others, and not yourself. If you are willing to donate your body for the benefits of others, nothing else will make you angry any more.

To sacrifice yourself for the benefits of others is the best way to subdue your hatred. This form of visualisation is the same as the wisdom of equality that we discussed yesterday.

Right now, I am also cultivating the visualisation known as "contributing your body method". My vow of sacrificing my life and bones for others means I want to donate my body for the sakes of others. As long as it is good for others, I will risk my life to do it. (applause) I will not do something that will bring harms to others. I will definitely not do something that is beneficial to me and not others. I will do something that is beneficial to others and myself.(applause) I will do thing that is harmful to myself but beneficial to others.(applause) This is the spirit of Bodhisattva. Those of you who pledged to uphold the Bodhisattva precepts must emulate this spirit.

There is a visualisation known as "crescent moon method" in Tantra. You must visualise there is a moon with a sanskrit word in it. When the word starts to gyrate, you visualise the look of your root deity. This visualisation method must be learned by all Tantric cultivators. Moreover, you must learn the visualisation of Buddha in Me, me in Buddha. Either the Buddha,or Bodhisattva or your root deity moves to your head, and he shrinks into a white spot. From your centre Mai (channel), he enters into your heart. The eight petal lotus flowers bloom and a crescent moon rests on top of it. The seed mantra of root deity is in the crescent moon. And the root deity sits on the lotus flower. Slowly the root deity enlarges himself to the same size as you are. And suddenly you turn into your root deity. This is the visualisation of Buddha in me. Then again your body starts to enlarge be itself to the size of infinity--- i.e. the sea of Vairocana nature. This is the process of Buddha in me to me in Buddha. It is the way to enter the sense of the universe.

All of you must understand thoroughly the above-mentioned methods of visualisation i.e. counting-breath method, filthy method, contributing your body method, crescent moon method, Buddha in me, me in Buddha method. You must learn the ten Musts of Tantra.

First you must learn the external cultivation, so that your magnetism can have a spiritual response with that of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Then you must learn the internal cultivation, i.e. to cultivate the Buddha seed in your body. Then you must learn the Tantric cultivation, i.e. to circulate your bright spot in the whole body, and open up the middle mai and radiate brightness. Then you must cultivate the most profound Tantra, to enable your dharma body to become that of the Buddha's. All of you must understand the cultivation sequence in detail and cultivate accordingly. From the four basic rituals, guru yoga, root deity, vajra dharma, and reach the most profound tantra-- the highest accomplishment in Tantra.

Where is the secret of the universe?

When you are enlightened, you will know the truth of the universe. You have the whole universe in your hand. Nothing will bother you any more. You are indestructible. Your mind is unruffled, you are an unmoveable Buddha. All of us are able to seek the truth of the universe, and are able to have the universe.

Tantra is the truth of the universe. And the truth of the universe lies in the Tantra.

During Puja ritual, you are able to invoke the cosmos power, the power of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas to converge at the fire. Your prayer will the heaven and the earth; and the converged power can be used to do beneficial things to other sentient beings. This is the wisdom known as "omnipresent accomplishment".

You can possess the wisdom of dharma realm nature, the wisdom of Maha perfection, the wisdom of omnipresent accomplishment, the wisdom of magnificent observation, and the wisdom of equality. You will fully understand the five types of Buddha wisdoms yourself.

This is the Tantra, the whole truth of universe.
